A soldier killed in Gaza on Tuesday morning has been identified as Staff Sergeant Evyatar Turgeman, 20, of Beit Shean.

Turgeman, a soldier in the Paratroopers unit, was killed in a shootout with terrorists.

He is the 28th soldier killed in Operation Protective Edge. Earlier Tuesday it was revealed that Sergeant Oron Shaul, 21, is missing and presumed dead.

Soldiers have successfully destroyed over 1,715 terror targets since the beginning of the operation, among them missiles, launch sites, and several dozen entrances to underground tunnels and bunkers.

Several tunnels were found that extended far into Israel.
