The Jerusalem based Temple Institute will be holding their 4th annual International Temple Mount Awareness Day broadcast. The event is meant to raise conciousness of Judaism's holiest site, the Temple Mount and teach about both the historic aspects and how it applies to mankind today.

The special 3-hour video broadcast will stream live on Arutz 7 - Israel National News and simulcast as a radio program on Israel National Radio. The program will be hosted by Rabbi Chaim Richman and Yitzchak Reuven of the Temple Institute. The two also host the weekly Temple Talk podcast on Israel National Radio.

Guests will include Rabbi Yisrael Ariel, the founder of the Temple Institute. Rabbi Ariel was one of the paratroopers who helped liberate the Old City of Jerusalem including the Western Wall and Temple Mount in the Six Day War of 1967.

Newly elected Member of Knesset Moshe Feiglin will speak about the political and religious issues of the holy site. Popular Israeli musician Shlomo Katz will perform. Vocal reconstructionist and pedagogue Miriam Jaskierowicz Arman will talk about the Levitical music in the Temple. Dr. Roy Hoffman of the Israeli New Moon Society will discuss Rosh Chodesh. Mois Navon and Baruch Sterman of the Ptil Tekhelet Association will talk about the blue fringe of the tzitzit.

The Temple Mount is located in the Old City of Jerusalem and is the location of the Beit HaMikdash, as described in the Torah. Rabbi Richman stated, "Temple Mount Awareness Day takes place each year during the week of Rosh Hodesh Nisan [the first day of the new month of Nisan]. The date marks the anniversary of the dedication of the Tabernacle in the wilderness, the first day of the Divine service, the day on which fire descended from Heaven onto the altar, and the first day in which the Shechinah, the Divine Presence, rested in the Tabernacle."

Yitzchak Reuven added, "Nisan is the month of Redemption, the month in which our forefathers were redeemed from Egyptian bondage."

The two Temple Institute colleagues started as co-hosts in 2004 as a call-in segment on one of Israel National Radio's daily English language news programs. That segment eventually expanded into a regular weekly radio show and podcast and morphed into regular videos and special features. Temple Talk airs every Tuesday. For podcast archives click here.

Lorelai Kude of Radio Free Nachlaot is serving as executive producer of the Temple Mount Awareness Day. It being broadcast by Be There Israel and simulcast by Arutz Sheva.

The event will be Sunday, March 10th from 6:00pm until 9:00pm Israel time. The corresponding times in foreign countries will be: 12:00 noon - 3:00pm U.S. Eastern time, 11:00am - 2:00pm U.S. Central time, and 10:00am - 1:00pm U.S. Mountain time.

The Temple Mount was liberated in the 1967 Six Day War, but control over Judaism's holiest site was given by Moshe Dayan to the Arab Wakf .While there is a halakhic dispute between rabbis over whether Jews are allowed to walk on areas of the Mount, there is total agreement on the fact that it should be under the control of the Jewish people.
