‘Every Israeli is a Target’
Every Israeli is at risk when traveling abroad, Vice Prime Minister Moshe Yaalon said Friday, speaking to Channel 10.
“Every Israeli who leaves the country needs to assume that he is a target, and to be particularly alert,” Yaalon said.
Speaking of the attack in Bulgaria, Yaalon said, “We have no doubt that Iran and its emissaries are behind this terrorist assault, as part of their recent attempt to hurt Israeli targets.”
Terror expert Yigal Presler, a former advisor to prime ministers on the war on terror, told Arutz Sheva that Israeli intelligence does not always get warnings prior to terrorist attacks abroad. “The host country is ultimately responsible for security,” he noted.
Israeli tourists should ask tourism firms for private security, he continued. “If a company provides organized tours, they must have a guard who will check the bus, see who gets on,” he said. “There should always be someone responsible.”
The government must help keep Israeli tourists safe by working with other governments, Presler said.
Ultimately, he said, “The state of Israel will search for the ones who did this and hurt them.”
