Most people think of the 9/11 massacre as an act of aggression against the citizens and the symbols of power of the United States. However, German researcher Matthias Küntzel has written a book showing that the ideological roots of the attack's perpetrators were deep in Nazi anti-Semitism, and that they even considered targeting Brooklyn with one of the planes, because of its Jewish population.
The book, Jihad and Jew-Hatred: Islamism, Nazism and the Roots of 9/11, came out last year and is now available in Hebrew as well.
The 9/11 attack's commander, Mohammed Atta, believed in a Jewish international conspiracy, the book claims. World War 2 was organized by Jews in order to establish the State of Israel, Atta believed, and Monica Lewinsky was sent by Jews "to show [Bill] Clinton was a fool," the book's translator says.
In their meetings, the plotters spoke a lot about New York City, he explains. "In New York they saw the center of Jewish life… There are testimonies that they chose the Twin Towers because they knew many Jews worked and lived there, and they saw New York as a Jewish city. There is even testimony they initially thought to attack Brooklyn because there are many Jews there."
According to Küntzel, there is no way to stop the threat of resurgent radical Islam without fighting anti-Semitism as well.
In related news, a new book dedicated to mocking the Holocaust was honored by the Minister of Education of Iran Friday.
