    Shaked: Peace treaty with Israel is in Jordan's best interest

    Cochairwoman Ayelet Shaked of the New Right Party told public radio on Tuesday, "If the first step in the [United States diplomatic] program is to apply sovereignty, then a Palestinian state will no longer be established, and we oppose the establishment of such a state. We must do what is right for the State of Israel and that is to apply Israeli law to Judea and Samaria and the Jordan Valley."

    On the possibility that annexation of territories would damage relations with Jordan, Shaked said: "The peace agreement with Jordan is in its best interest, no less than Israel. There is no need to worry about [such] steps."
