Former Jerusalem mayor Nir Barkat is the choice of Likud voters to lead the party after Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu leaves the scene, according to a poll released Sunday evening by Channel 13 News.
The Direct Polls survey, which was accurate in Netanyahu's win over former minister Gid'on Saar, showed that 45 percent of Netanyahu supporters would support Barkat, with Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz the closest competitor at 10 percent and Saar getting 5.5 percent. When the poll was expanded to all Likud voters, Barkat got 34 percent of the vote, with 26 percent for Sa'ar and eight percent for Katz.
