Executive Director Amos Yadlin of the Institute for National Security Studies has responded to reports of the Gaza-area ceasefire by saying, "1. Egypt deserves praise for the mediation but it is important to remember that the parameters that were published were not necessarily accepted by both parties."

Writing on Twitter, the former head of military intelligence added, "2. Official Israel did not respond - "quiet will be answered with quiet..." 3. Islamic Jihad folded. The change in rhetoric within 24 hours - from threats and promises of "unprecedented hits" - has gone to lies about what they have achieved." Yadlin summed up the latest round of fighting by saying Israel had security achievements but the problem of strengthened Gaza terror organizations and their ability to paralyze life in Israel has not been solved and awaits a completely different strategic response.
