The European Union called on the Israeli government, Monday, "to reverse its decision on revoking the work visa of Omar Shakir," an activist in the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement against Israel, who headed the Israel and Palestinian Authority office of Human Rights Watch before he was deported.
Noting that the Supreme Court upheld the government’s decision, a statement by the EU said, "Support for human rights defenders is an integral part of the European Union's policy on human rights. The EU stands firm in protecting freedom of expression and freedom of association...."
