Minister Gilad Erdan has expressed satisfaction with the Supreme Court's decision to deport Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions activist and local Human Rights Watch Director Omar Shakir from Israel, saying, "Omar Shakir is a BDS activist who uses his stay in Israel to hurt it from inside and no sane country would allow this."
Erdan also said, "The State of Israel sees great importance in the activities of real human rights organizations, and even grants hundreds of visas every year to human rights activists and the HRW can also appoint another representative in Israel in place of Shakir, so all the radical left's claims on this issue are false and [merely] attention getting."
