Yaakov Amidror, former head of the National Security Council, told Arutz Sheva on Sunday that the elimination of Islamic State terror leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi will not cause the terrorist organization to completely disintegrate, but in fact there is not much left.
The retired general said, "The idea will remain and maybe they'll even appoint someone else in his place, but it is symbolic. Part of the minority power left to the organization was because its leader remained alive and was a symbol of resistance that fails despite all efforts to eliminate it. The fact that he was eliminated would also hurt that symbol. The organization has no significant operational capabilities anyway and there will be no point of change but the organization's symbolism."
