Chairman Yaki Halutzi of the Cellular Workers Union has responded to Cellcom's announcement of its intention to cut staffing by saying, "On the eve of Rosh Hashanah we are in a most difficult situation (literally "in front of a broken trough" in Hebrew)."

Interviewed by Galei Tzahal radio, he explained, "They want to lay off about 1,000 employees at Cellcom and Pelephone together." He added, "We will struggle against the streamlining measures, which have become worse recenlty."
