Member of Knesset Esawi Frej (Meretz) has responded to the plea bargain of a soldier in the beating of an Arab prisoner by saying, "The plea bargain is like giving a permit for abuse," according to Channel 13 Television.
Frej added, "Ahed Tamimi sat [in jail] for eight months on a slap [to a soldier] - animal-like abuse against shackled people is punished less." Recalling the words of an Israeli television newscaster, he concluded, "Every soldier will know from now on that it is permitted to become a human animal, to abuse, humiliate and enjoy the mercy of the military prosecutor."
