Retired Supreme Court Justice Yitzhak Zamir said, Thursday, that Deputy Attorney General Dina Zilber must be defended, following Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked's demand that Zilber be prevented from representing the government, in response to critical comments by Zilber on the Cultural Loyalty bill being promoted by Culture and Sports Minister Miri Regev.
Speaking at the Haifa University Law Conference, Professor Zamir criticized Legal Advisers bill promoted by Shaked, under which candidates for the position of ministerial legal advisor will require the consent of the relevant minister and the attorney general. He said, "This bill is more serious for the rule of law in the State of Israel than the empowerment clause or nationality law. This bill must be stopped."
