In a special meeting held this week, with the participation of haredi-religious community leaders, heads of Hashomrim organizations throughout New York, New York City police commanders and federal security representatives, it was decided to increase security in the haredi neighborhoods and synagogue complexes during the coming Jewish month of Tishrei, when thousands of visitors are expected.
Local security sources said that so far no specific warnings had been received about the intention to carry out an attack against Jewish targets in New York during the coming holidays.
