On the backdrop of the storm over the Jewish Home campaign in Jerusalem against "haredization", City Attorney Eli Malka said that a campaign ad featuring pictures of three mayoral candidates made to look like haredi-religious Jews should not be published on municipal bulletin boards.
The municipality said the city attorney did not approve the pictures in the ad. He said, "This is a violation of the dignity and image of the people and the creation of a caricature which includes an inappropriate distortion." The announcement aroused great anger among members of the National Union faction within the Jewish Home, who immediately renounced it and apologized to those who were hurt.
