Israel and the United States are joining forces at the United Nations to prevent a UN Security Council resolution calling for the deployment of an international force in the Gaza Strip to "protect the Palestinians from Israel's aggression."

The Americans, who are not interested in the law, have already clarified their position on diplomatic channels to the other members of the council, and have even made a clear promise to Israel that if such a proposal is approved, it will be vetoed. A senior American official said, "This is an exaggerated move by the Palestinians."
