Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Chaim Katz has announced the appointment of a professional committee to formulate recommendations for the uniform and effective treatment of elderly invalids by the National Insurance Institute and the Ministry of Welfare.
Responding to the just-released Comptroller's report on the subject, Katz said, "At the beginning of 2016, I learned that there were problems in the care of elderly invalids in their homes by the nursing care companies, and therefore I decided to launch a new tender for selection of manpower suppliers, and unfortunately many months have passed since my request was submitted to the Finance Ministry." He added, "Despite his agreement, the Finance Ministry insisted that the tender be made by him and because of his slow conduct, the tender that is supposed to solve a large part of the defects discovered in the report has been delayed."
