Arab Stays Seated during Siren

An Arab taking part in a training session in Rishon Letzion made a point of sitting during the sounding of the 10:00 a.m. siren for Holocaust Remembrance Day on Monday, according to Michal Samuels, an employee of the Beit El local council, who also took part. She said, "After the siren, the participants yelled at him, 'Get out of the classroom! How can you not show respect?' and he responded by calling the police."

Noting the nature of the day and the municipal worker makeup of the class, Samuels said the Arab's behavior was unbelievable, adding, "I would expect that if he didn't stand, he would leave the classroom." She continued, "It infuriates me. I think of my grandmother. Her entire family was murdered brutally. In the state of Israel, I expect that to be respected."
