Aviva Chazan, a member of the Likud party secretariat and wife of former Knesset member Yechiel Chazan, was one of those wounded, Thursday evening, in a rock attack on the Gitai Junction, next to Ariel, that resulted in a collision between a bus and a private vehicle. Shattered glass from rocks which hit the windshield of the bus entered Mrs. Chazan's eyes. She was taken to Hasharon Hospital.
Yechiel Chazan said, "I call on the government to act to eradicate the phenomenon of stone-throwing, which collects a price in blood. Ariel residents will not be cannon fodder for the quiet that the prime minister wants ahead of the visit of [United States President Barack]] Obama. I call on the government to act firmly and agressively. it's not possible that the blood of residents of Ariel will be abandoned. In the last three weeks. this road has become a death trap. I suggest that the government of Israel stop dealing in [ministerial] appointments and [Knesset] seats and start taking care of security of the residents of Ariel. "
