Yossi Sarid Leads Walkout on Dror Idar at Conference

For the second straight day, columnist Dror Idar of the Yisrael Hayom daily was involved in a verbal clash at the Eilat Journalists' Conference. Former minister and Meretz party leader Yossi Sarid, who writes a weekly column for the leftist Ha'aretz daily, launched a long attack on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Yisrael Hayom during a panel discussion. Doctor Idar responded by saying, "I would rather be a footstool for a Jew than work at a newspaper supported by a supporter of the Nazi party," at which point, Sarid left the auditorium, as did a number of journalists who identified with his views.

On Sunday, Idar called Labor Knesset candidate and former Peace Now Chairman Yariv Oppenheimer "liar", after Oppenheimer accused him of working for Netanyahu.
