Former Peace Now Head Clashes with Yisrael Hayom Writer

A sharp exchange took place between Labor party Knesset candidate Yariv Oppenheimer and columnist Dror Idar of the Yisrael Hayom daily, Sunday afternoon at the Eilat Journalists' Conference. During a panel discussion "Is the left losing on the Internet?" the former head of the Peace Now organization said that Doctor Idar "works for [Prime Minister Binyamin] Netanyahu." Idar angrily grabbed the microphone from Oppenheimer and said, "You're a liar!"

Last month, Channel 10 Television cited a document from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), claiming a commitment to pay thousands of shekels to Idar. Idar said he had no connection with the PMO, acknowledging he was paid for speeches he wrote for vice premier Moshe Ya'alon.
