Akiva Mafi’i, a disabled IDF veteran who set himself on fire at the Yehud Junction in central Israel last week, died of his injuries at the Tel Hashomer hospital on Tuesday night.

Mafi’i, 45, was wounded during his military service at age 23. He underwent rehabilitation and then volunteered for the Border Police. He was later injured in an accident and subsequently suffered a stroke.
