Sources in the Yisrael Beytenu party say that Member of Knesset Anastassia Michaeli may be dismissed from the party's list of Knesset candidates in the next elections, according to a Friday morning report by Israel Defense Forces Radio. The appraisal follows her comments against Channel 10 programming promoting homosexuality. While Michaeli apologized for her remarks, she added, "a conspiracy of silence about the matter only worsens the problem."
Michaeli's future came into question in January. She was expelled from Knesset deliberations for a month after splashing a cup of water in the face of Arab Knesset member Ghaleb Majadele (Labor) when he dismissed her from a committee meeting when she criticized an Arab school principal for leading students to a leftist demonstration.
