The Knesset Ethics Committee has expelled Yisrael Beiteinu Knesset Member Anastassia Michaeli from the legislature for a month because she tossed a cup of water on Raleb Majadle, an Arab Knesset Member from the Labor party.

Starting Wednesday, she will be barred from the Knesset and from committees but will be allowed to attend when issues come to a vote.

The harsh response by the Ethics Committee was questioned by Yisrael Beiteinu. One party official told Arutz Sheva, “I do not justify her actions, but I remind everyone that MK Hanin Zuabi was thrown out of the Knesset for only one day after pushing an usher and raising her hand at her when she tried to eject her from the Knesset for disturbing proceedings."

“Where is the proportionality?” he asked

MK Majadle of Labor drew MK Michaeli's anger when he called her "full of chutzpah" at an Education, Culture and Sports Committee meeting, where she said an Arab school principal undermined the country by leading pupils to a leftist protest in Tel Aviv.

As MK Michaeli began to walk out of the session, she tossed a cup of water at him and said, "You should be ashamed of yourself." MK Majadle called her actions “fascist.” She later wrote an apology, saying she acted in the heat of anger and had no intentions of disparaging the honor of the Knesset or of MK Majadle personally.

Nevertheless, sources in Yisrael Beiteinu said her water fight could cost her a place on the party’s election list in the next Knesset elections.
