A medieval Hebrew calendar technique predicted that Israeli Independence Day (Yom Haatzmaut) would take place on the 5th of the month of Iyar, according to Israel National Radio's Temple Talk podcast. The Atbash cipher, a technique for accurately calculating Jewish holidays was first written about by Rabbi Yaakov Ben Asher (1275-1340), also known as the Baal HaTurim.
Rabbi Chaim Richman, host of Israel National Radio's Temple Talk program explains the Atbash cipher and references other Jewish sources in a special Yom Haatzmaut podcast. "It's nothing less than a modern miracle," Rabbi Richman stated. To download the program click here.
