In an act of psychological terrorism, the Hamas terrorist organization published a sign of life from Hersh Goldberg-Polin, a hostage who was kidnapped on October 7.

In the footage Hamas published, Hersh appears to have had his forearm amputated below the elbow.

Hersh was kidnapped from the Nova music festival on the morning of October 7. At about 8 am, he sent his family two text messages saying "I love you" and "I'm sorry."

Hersh, together with his friend Aner Shapira and others at the music festival, took refuge in a field shelter. The Hamas terrorists threw grenades into the shelter. Shapira threw seven of the grenades out of the shelter before he was killed. Hersh suffered a severe wound to his arm and was forced to make a tourniquet for himself. He was last seen being taken into a truck to be transported to Gaza.

Last week. TIME magazine named Rachel Goldberg-Polin, Hersh's mother, to the 2024 TIME100, its annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world.

Rachel’s inclusion on the TIME100 list was in recognition of the impact she and her husband Jon Polin, along with hundreds of other families of hostages taken by Hamas, and millions of people around the world, have had in raising global awareness of the hostage crisis and their unwavering efforts to continue to fight for the release of Hersh and every hostage.
