An Israeli pilot was killed last night in a helicopter crash in New Jersey.

According to reports, the pilot was alone in a Robinson R22 helicopter, and crashed after taking off from Princeton Airport.

Emergency forces removed his body from the water and pronounced him dead at the scene.

The Foreign Ministry stated: "Overnight, the Israeli Consulate in New York received an update from the New Jersey State Police regarding an Israeli citizen, aged 44, who was killed when the helicopter he was piloting crashed. The incident is being handled by the Israeli Consulate in New York, and the Foreign Ministry's Department for Israelis Abroad is in contact with the family to assist it in bringing his body to Israel for burial.
