MK Hanoch Milwidsky (Likud) spoke to Israel National News on Thursday about the need to continue the legislation of the judicial reform.
"There is a very big effort here by elements from the opposition, by elements from abroad and anti-Zionist elements in Israel, to come and tamper with the ability of the Israeli government to enact laws, and that is why it is so important that we pass this law without blinking," he said, adding, "The reform will continue. This is our shift and there are people on the other side who don't mind burning down the country."
On the Attorney General, MK Milwidsky said, "We have an Attorney General here who promotes selective enforcement, and would very much like and would be happy if we got rid of her, that's why our work is so complex. On the one hand, we need to implement our policy, but on the other hand, not to tear the rope. We must not fall into their trap."
"We need to complete the passing of the legislation, to show that we can do it. They talk about the salami method, but I don't care. This is the right way to do it. We are working to strengthen democracy. As time goes by, more and more extremists on the other side will be denounced and the people of Israel will understand that they these are not patriots, but quite the opposite ".
In conclusion, and as the Jewish world prepares to mark Tisha B’Av, Milwidsky said, "There is a real rift [among the people]. It's a rift that has existed before. The hatred did not start now, it is not as a result of the legislation. It's a hatred that has always been there but has been tamed, and our entire process has brought it to the top. That's why you see a lot of older people who have this hatred at the demonstrations. We need to lead a process in which the sane people of Israel will reunite themselves, because what we thought was uniting us - is not working."
