MK Danny Danon (Likud) spoke to Israel National News and told of his concerns over comments made by former Israel Police Commissioner Roni Alsheikh, who said that "no one could have guessed that Prime Minister Netanyahu would not resign [after the indictment against him] and choose to fight from within the system."

"This is a worrying statement that reveals what happened there. One person thinks that a party will oust the Prime Minister because of his personal decision, and this shows us the distortion that exists. They want to take the votes of the public in Israel and decide for them," said Danon, who stressed that Alsheikh’s statement proves the need for a broad reform of the country’s law enforcement systems.

"We must make a change. This is the case of a Prime Minister who has the power and ability to fight, but what about the ordinary citizen against whom decisions are made in an arrogant way? How many Israeli citizens have been harmed by this method?" he said.

Danon also commented on the Israeli military response to the increase in terrorist attacks and the need for a military operation in northern Samaria. "I call on the Prime Minister to launch an operation now, not to wait, to respond firmly to the murder of Jews. Strength is demonstrated through a military operation that we must carry out in Samaria. If we don't do it, northern Samaria will become like southern Lebanon."

Recently, Israel has tightened its relations with China, a matter that has become a point of friction with the United States. Danon, who served as Israel's Ambassador to the UN, said that "China is a very important country, but the United States is more important."

On the talks about a possible visit by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to China, Danon said, "If the Prime Minister were to consult me, I would recommend that he travel to China only after visiting the United States. There is a very high sensitivity in the United States today and we need to respect our friends."
