Defense Minister Yoav Gallant held several situational assessments over the day on Tuesday regarding security incidents.
The message released by Gallant's office did not specify which incidents were being discussed but did state: "The different security officials presented Minister Gallant with initial findings from inquiries into the incidents. The Defense Minister instructed to continue the work to protect the routine lives of the citizens of Israel."
The situational assessments were attended by IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, Shin-Bet Chief Ronen Bar, Operations Directorate Chief Maj. Gen. Oded Bisuke, Intelligence Directorate Chief Maj. Gen. Aharon Haliva, and other defense officials.
Rambam Medical Center in Haifa updated on Tuesday afternoon that the condition of the 21-year-old resident of Salem in northern Israel, who was injured on Monday when an explosive device exploded near the Meggido Junction on Route 65, was worsening. The defense establishment is assuming that the explosion was a terror attack but has yet to publish a clear decision. The Shin-Bet is involved in the investigation.
The man is hospitalized in the neurosurgery intensive care unit in Haifa's Rambam Medical Center. The director of the unit Dr. Gina Mahmid stated that the man is unconscious and on a respirator in severe yet stable condition. He suffered severe head trauma, several breaks, and shrapnel damage in various parts of his body.
