MK Danny Danon (Likud) has given his support to former United States UN Ambassador Nikki Haley who announced on Tuesday that she is running for president.
“Ambassador Haley is a great friend of the people of Israel,” said Danon, Israel’s former UN ambassador. “We will always remember what she did at the UN when she stood with me against evil, when she put moral clarity in the front lines of the UN.”
Danon recalled inviting Haley to his house for a Shabbat dinner.
“We spoke about politics and I told her about the difficulties of running a campaign in Israel. She told me that she never lost a campaign. We know that she is facing very interesting challenges ahead,” he said.
“We wish her the best of luck and I'm sure that the time that she spent at the UN will give her the tools to continue to fight evil and to do good things for the United States of America and for its closest ally Israel.”
Danon added: “I'm sure that if Nikki Haley was running for a position here in Israel, she would have won. But she's running in the US. We know it's not easy. We want to wish her a lot of good luck.”
