Border Police officers stationed in the Silwan neighborhood in eastern Jerusalem were nearly attacked with fireworks and firebombs on Wednesday evening.
The officers were moving forward in order to arrest suspected rioters, when their commander noticed two suspects, one of whom was holding fireworks in his hand and the other holding a firebomb aimed at the officers.
The commander opened fire at the two and managed to neutralize them. There were no injuries among the officers.
The Israel Police and Border Police continue to operate in the area in large numbers against the rioters.
