Britain’s National Kebab Awards (BKA) are featuring for the first time a kosher category.
Finalists competing for the British Kebab Awards 2023 include kosher shawarma restaurants and takeout shops, according to the UK Jewish News.
The winners of the competition – which is billed as “the most delicious awards in Britain” – will be announced in February.
The kosher kebab restaurant competing for the top spot are mostly located in London but there are two from Manchester.
With 1.3 million kebabs sold every day, the British kebab industry contributes $3.4 billion annually to the economy, and includes approximately 200,000 employees in restaurants and the food industry across the country.
The BKA has grown into a major annual event, with politicians, business leaders, journalists and other important figures in attendance.
BKA founder Ibrahim Dogus described the kebab event as a “great way of bringing communities together,” according to the news outlet.
