A 30-year-old man from Hadera is in serious condition after the vehicle he was driving was fired at as he drove along Highway 2 near Shefayim (on the coastal plain).
MDA responders and paramedics treated the man at the scene before evacuating him to Meir hospital in Kfar Saba. The man is reportedly fully conscious despite his injuries.
Police have commenced a search for the shooter and are collecting evidence at the scene. An investigation has been opened to examine the background and circumstances of the incident, which appears to be an assassination attempt due to criminal rather than nationalistic motivations.
Senior MDA paramedic Adam Deas and MDA paramedic Ohad Bain stated: "A man in his thirties was involved in an attack and sustained internal injuries. The vehicle also collided with a pillar, but the driver remained fully conscious. We provided him with life-saving medical treatment and evacuated him to hospital in serious condition."
