Over 2,500 participants from the largest Jewish youth movement in the world, NCSY which belongs to the American OU organization, celebrated last week in Live Park in Rishon Lezion their link and connection to the State of Israel and the Jewish people. The event which was sponsored by Cross River Bank, included different cultural and religious programs, together with a huge barbecue and an exciting performance by music superstar, the artist Mordechai Shapiro. The event kickstarted six weeks of summer camps around the country, where the teens will be participating in volunteer work across Israel’s periphery, taking part in community programs, learning and visiting Jewish heritage and historical sites.

The youth movement consists of 30,000 participants in North America of which 2,500 of them come to Israel every year for summer camps. During their stay in Israel, they learn about the state of Israel, the Jewish people and their heritage and go back to be ambassadors for Israel and the Jewish people.
Judy, an NCSY participant from California, says: "I am excited to be here in Israel. I have heard so much about it from my parents and my community and now I finally get to be here. There are many summer camps across the United States and Canada, but the real connection to the people and the Land of Israel is being here which is very important to me. I wish to thank the people of NCSY for this amazing program."

Rabbi Avi Berman, Executive Director OU Israel: "These teens are very unique. We work hard to turn these amazing boys and girls into the leaders of tomorrow. Here in Israel they absorb the values of Judaism and Zionism and upon returning to North America, they become ambassadors for the State of Israel and the Jewish people”.

President of OU International Moshe Bane: "It’s exciting to see how all the preparations made for the thousands of teens who come together to Israel, transform from a vision into an amazing reality, when all the campers gather together in Live Park in Rishon Lezion and enjoy the atmosphere and connection to the people of Israel. It’s very inspiring to them, emboldening their connection and affinity to the people of Israel and the State of Israel upon returning to North America”

Attending the event were OU International President Moshe Bane, OU International Vice President Rabbi Moshe Hauer and Rabbi Dr. Josh Joseph, Rabbi Avi Berman, Rabbi Micha Greenland, NCSY's International Director, and Mr. David Cutler, NCSY's Summer Camp Director.
