Defense Minister Benny Gantz (Blue and White) on Saturday night announced that despite Friday night's rocket fire from Gaza, the Erez Crossing between Gaza and Israel will remain open, allowing Gazans into Israel.
At the same time, following a situational assessment on Saturday night, Gantz decided to freeze the increase in the number of work permits granted to Gazans wishing to work in Israel.
The number had been increased by 1,500 in the last week alone.
The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) said, "The Hamas terror group bears responsibility for everything which takes place in Gaza and emanates from it towards the State of Israel, and it will bear the consequences."
Meanwhile, Religious Zionism chief MK Bezalel Smotrich slammed: "One day after there is political discourse regarding a Palestinian state, Hamas hears the feeble message and responds with rocket fire."
"The complaints are not directed at the US President, who speaks about the false solution of two states, but at the weak Israeli leadership, which responds to rocket fire by limiting the number of permits from Gaza. In the Middle East, weak leadership invites attack."
