
Over the past few days, President Isaac Herzog has continued to receive letters and messages of condolence from world leaders following the death of his mother Aura, widow of the Sixth President, Chaim Herzog. Among the leaders were the King of Jordan, the Queen of the United Kingdom, the King of Morocco, the President of Germany, the President of India, and the President of Azerbaijan.
King Abdullah II of Jordan spoke with the President and conveyed his sincere condolences to him and his family. The two leaders discussed the late Aura Herzog’s public work and legacy.
Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland sent President Herzog a letter expressing her sympathies. King Mohammed VI of Morocco wrote in his letter that he was saddened to hear of Aura Herzog’s passing and joined the President and his family in their grief.
German President Frank-Walker Steinmeier wrote: “We shall remember Aura Herzog fondly, especially her tireless and vigorous work for the wellbeing of Israeli society. Aura’s family can look back at her long and full life with pride, and future generations will see her as an exemplar.”
Ram Nath Kovind, President of the Republic of India, expressed condolences on behalf of himself and the Indian people and added that Aura Herzog’s public service was a model of devotion and dedication.
