The Disciplinary Department of the Israel Police has decided to press charges against a Yassam Police officer who attacked a Jewish teen during demonstrations over the death of 16-year-old Ahuvya Sandak, killed during a police chase that followed an alleged rock throwing attack of PA Arabs.
One of the fellow protesters recorded the policeman punching the teen in the face, with the victim falling on his back from the force of the blow.
The indictment fails to mention the term "punched," and according to Attorney Menashe Yado of Honenu, the depiction of the incident is incomplete.
On December 26, five days after Ahuvya's death, About 2,000 people demonstrated at the national headquarters of the police department and Internal Security Ministry in Jerusalem in protest of the incident.
Hundreds of demonstrators were pelted with water cannons during the event.
Police said two officers were injured by stone throwers. Following the protest, roads near the facility were closed to traffic. "The Israel Police are working to restore order at the site by various means," read a police report at the time.
