The Lebanon-based Hezollah terrorist organization is actively working to recruit Israeli nationals as agents, Israeli security forces announced Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Shin Bet internal security organization, an investigation of two Israeli citizens from northern Israel were recently arrested by Israeli security personnel revealed how Hezbollah forces in Lebanon are working to recruit Israelis.
The two women who are accused of being recruited by Hezbollah are residents of the Israeli-Arab town of Majd al-Krum in the Galilee.
Their arrests earlier this month and the subsequent probe launched by the Shin Bet have led to the identification of two agents working for Hezbollah who worked to recruit Israeli-Arabs for the terror group.
The Shin Bet investigation revealed that Beirut Hamud, an Israeli civilian originally from Majd al-Krum who is currently living in Lebanon, together with her husband Balal Bizari, is operating on behalf of Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Beirut Hamud writes for the AlAkhbar newspaper, an outlet sympathetic to Hezbollah. On the side, however, she and her husband help Hezbollah locate and recruit Israeli Arabs.
Beirut was interrogated by Israeli security officials in 2013 over her suspected ties to Hezbollah, after it was discovered that she had met with Hezbollah members at a 2008 conference in Morocco and another conference in Tunis in 2012.
Following the interrogation, Beirut, left Israel, moving to Lebanon, where she married her husband, Balal Bizari.
Beirut and Balal met with the two Israeli Arab women, who were arrested earlier this month, in Turkey last December.
