A volunteer accomanying a routine police patrol in Ramat Beit Shemesh tonight saved a year-and-a-half old toddler's life.

The drama began when a patrol car in the Ramat Beit Shemesh neighborhood occupied by a policeman and volunteer was approached by a number of worried citizens who called the policemen to a toddler who had lost consciousness and whose life was in danger.

"I immediately opened the door and jumped out of the van, not even waiting for a complete stop; I knew every second counts," said the female police volunteer.

"I ran toward the toddler who was unconscious, picked him up in my arms and immediately began to perform life saving operations that included opening an airway. At this point the policeman who was with me noticed the toddler was slowly regaining consciousness and opened his eyes."

The volunteer returned the toddler to his parents and was evacuated for further medical treatment.
