At least 19 people were killed in a knife attack at a center for disabled people outside Tokyo, Japan, Sky News reports.

25 people were injured in the stabbing, 20 of them seriously, in the mass stabbings in the city of Sagamihara.

Police said the man who attacked the home was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after turning himself in and saying:,"I did it."

He reportedly told police he wanted “to get rid of the disabled from this world.” The attack does not appear to be terror motivated.

The local Japanese broadcaster NHK reported that the 26-year-old suspect, Satoshi Uematsu, was a former employee of the center who broke into the building by smashing a window.
