The office of Israel’s ambassador to the UN, Ron Prosor, has released a video of the ambassador treating UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to shakshouka, as reported earlier on Arutz Sheva,
In honor of Israel’s Independence Day, the UN chief tried out the dish, which consists of poached eggs in a sauce of tomatoes, peppers, and onions. Shakshouka is believed to be of Tunisian origin but it is widely popular in Israel, where it is served for both breakfast and dinner with lots of bread on the side, which is dipped in the sauce.
Prosor is seen telling Ban that “Shakshouka is like Israel - It's a melting pot like our culture, it's hot and spicy like our nature, and once you get a taste, you always come back for more."
