Wednesday's Knesset session descended into a farce, after Labor MK Hilik Bar found a creative way to voice his anger at Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's leadership.
Following the unanimous vote to dissolve the current Knesset and make way for new elections in March 2015 - a rare show of "national unity", if you will - Bar addressed the plenum and, turning to the PM and Intelligence Minister Yuval Steinitz, let loose on the outgoing government, accusing it of neglecting social issues.
"Have you ever seen a young couple living together in an Iranian bomb?" he asked sarcastically. "Have you ever seen a hungry child eating Abu Mazen [Mahmoud Abbas] in a pita? Have you ever seen (Hamas leader) Ismail Haniyeh inside a school lunch? Have you ever seen an unemployed person seeking employment from ISIS or Hamas?"
"Today there wasn't even one answer to any social issues," Bar continued. "All the answers were threats in order to frighten the public."
"When we asked Steinitz about the housing crisis, he answered 'the Iranian nuclear weapon'. When we asked Steinitz about the price of food, the poverty and hunger, he answered 'Abu Mazen is guilty'. When we asked Steinitz about unemployment he answered 'ISIS and Hamas.' Shame!" Bar shouted, going on to explicitly accuse the Likud-led government of "using" security threats to distract the public from socio-economic problems.
Urging the Israeli public to "wake up" and reject Netanyahu at the polls next March, Bar then finished with a handy - and somewhat familiar - visual aid: a cartoon-like picture of a bomb with the Netanyahu's head superimposed on it.
"Bibi, this is the bomb!" Bar said in English, parodying the PM's speech to the UN General Assembly in which he used a similar illustration to warn of the dangers of a nuclear Iran.
Reverting back to Hebrew, he continued: "Bibi Netanyahu is the bomb, and the elections in Israel are the fuse."
"It is in your hands to decide whether to neutralize the bomb or to let it explode on all of our heads, on our pockets, on our homes."
But the presiding Deputy Speaker, Yesh Atid MK Penina Tamano-Shata, was less than impressed - first ordering security to confiscate the drawing, and eventually ejecting Bar from the stand.
But while Tamano-Shata was less than impressed, Bar proudly posted a video of his performance onto his Youtube account.
Let's hope this isn't the "new Israeli politics" they've all been talking about...
