On Monday at JFK airport in New York, parents and friends shared an emotional farewell with their friends and family as they boarded the plane to Israel, making their Aliyah dream a reality.

The new immigrants were asked by Arutz Sheva why they decided to leave their lives in North America and, for some, immediately enlist in the Israel Defense Forces. Almost all answered: “Israel is our country. And we want to be part of it. Recruiting into the IDF is only the start.”

The Nefesh B’Nefesh organization that helped these Olim become Israeli citizens held a small ceremony at the New York airport for the departing immigrants.

Many Olim said of the transformation that they “feel honored to be a citizen of Israel.”
