Two babies, both aged two years, nearly drowned and were hospitalized Wednesday in two separate incidents.
One of the incidents occurred on Wednesday at Deganya Beach on the Sea of Galilee (Kinneret). Ichud Hatzalah volunteers were alerted to the location. They performed resuscitation on the baby and a Magen David Adom team evacuated the baby in critical condition to Poria Hospital.
The baby belongs to a family from the Gilboa area that had come to the Kinneret for recreation. When they began packing their things to go home, they noticed that the baby was missing. A few minutes later they spotted the baby drowning in the water, Hatzalah volunteers said.
Later in the day, a two year old went under in the Yarkon River in Tel Aviv, which is considered highly polluted. The toddler was evacuated in moderate condition to Dana Children's Hospital.
