The “face of the evil axis” of Iran, Syria and Hizbullah “has been bared for the world to see with whom Israel is living” as neighbors, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu told Cabinet ministers at the beginning of the weekly meeting Sunday morning.
“We are seeing what is going on in Syria, and it is plain and simple butchery of civilians,” he added. “We see horrid pictures of children and elderly people” who are victims of Syrian President Bashar Assad.
“This butchery is not only perpetrated by the Syrian government but also by the hands of Iran and Hizbullah. The world must understand this evil axis and the kind of environment around us.”
The death toll has become a routine daily report for months, and more than 100 people have been killed n the last two days.
President Shimon Peres verbally attacked the world for its inaction. The international community has resisted interfering except for verbal condemnation.
The civil war that bas been brewing in Syria for months has become a full-fledged battle, with rebels attacking Assad’s soldiers and throwing grenades at power generating stations, according to United nations observers.
Opposition forces reportedly attacked six buses carrying government soldiers.
