(IsraelNN.com) Kfar Saba police on Thursday removed an orange-tinted Israeli flag from a Ra'anana anti-Disengagement protest tent, telling the activists that the color modification "disgraces" the national flag. The protestors explained that the flag was presented to them as a gift by area residents, who took an orange flag and affixed the blue Star of David and blue stripes to it.

The color orange represents solidarity with the Jews of Gush Katif and Samaria, slated for uprooting pursuant to the government's Disengagement Plan.

The Ra'anana activists said that they will file a formal complaint and pursue the matter, elaborating that if their symbolic flag is not "acceptable", then the same would hold true with flags of many of the nation's soccer teams. Such flags frequently incorporate team colors into the national flag, with a Star of David and stripes.

Later today, the Ra'anana Gush Katif solidarity tent will be the scene of an "orange Sabbath banquet" for city residents. Hundreds of people are expected to take part in the Friday-night meal, organizers said, which will include an array of orange palate tantalizers. Pumpkin soup will be served, followed by salmon and carrots. The main course will include chicken with lots of cubed carrots and cooked pumpkin, followed by an orange-colored sherbet for dessert. Of course, table cloths, plates and cutlery will conform to the orange theme.

Organizers report 300 people have registered for the community Gush Katif solidarity Sabbath meal, paying NIS 40 per adult and NIS 20 per child. Community rabbis and leaders have also been invited. Preceding the meal, the rabbis will take part in a festive Sabbath prayer service.
