One person died Tuesday morning of complications relating to a coronavirus infection, bringing the total number of coronavirus-related fatalities in Israel to 368.

According to data released by the Israeli Health Ministry Tuesday, the total number of infections since the pandemic began has risen to 41,235.

Of those, 19,474 have ended in recoveries, while 21,393 cases currently remain active.

A total of 524 coronavirus patients are currently hospitalized, including 177 patients in serious condition and 123 in moderate condition. Fifty-five patients are on ventilators.

On Monday, 1,681 new cases of the virus were confirmed, along with 254 new infections confirmed Tuesday morning.

The percentage of tests conducted which came back positive has continued to rise over the past week, hitting 6.5% Monday, rising from 6.1% the two previous days. Last Wednesday the percentage of positive tests stood at 4.6%.

While the number of new confirmed cases has soared over the past few weeks, the second wave of the coronavirus remains less deadly than the first wave. During the first wave of the virus, an average of 5.23 coronavirus-related fatalities were recorded each day.

Over the past seven days, there have been an average of 3.43 coronavirus-related fatalities recorded. That’s a slight increase over the first week of July, when there were an average of 3.14 fatalities recorded.

The number of fatalities has increased since June, however, with an average of 1.71 fatalities per day during the last week of that month.
