Famed rapper and Trump supporter Kanye West announced that he no longer supports US President Donald Trump and will run for president himself.

West said in an interview with Forbes that he lost confidence in President Trump during the coronavirus crisis and nation-wide protests over the police killing of George Floyd.

"It looks like one big mess to me," West said. "I don't like that I caught wind that he hid in the bunker" during a protest outside the White House.

He announced that he would run for president against Trump and presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden under a new party called the "Birthday Party."

West further said that he did not care that he could take votes away from Joe Biden.

"I'm not denying it, I just told you," he said. "To say that the Black vote is Democratic is a form of racism and white supremacy."

He further stated that he intends to win despite running as a third party and missing the deadlines to be on the ballot in several states.

In another part of the interview, West said that he had contracted the coronavirus in February, saying that he had chills.

West has frequently supported President Donald Trump and suggested in April that he was going to vote for him this fall.

"And we know who I’m voting on," West said. "And I’m not going to be told by the people around me and the people that have their agenda that my career is going to be over. Because guess what: I’m still here!"

West visited the Oval Office in October of 2018, sporting a red "Make America Great Again" hat and saying "I love this guy right here," while posing with Trump. Later, however, he said he had decided to distance himself from politics.
