Lawmakers from the Yisrael Beytenu party, including party chairman and former Defense Minister MK Avidgor Liberman, visited the illegal Bedouin town of Khan al-Akhmar, east of Jerusalem, Wednesday morning.

During the tour, Liberman denounced Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu for failing to carry out his promise to evacuate the illegal encampment.

“We’re meeting here at Khan al-Akhmar because this is part of the same pattern of behavior. For fourteen months, Netanyahu has been yelling about ‘sovereignty’, and the whole time he’s cheated his voters.”

“The army chief of staff and the army commander of the Judea and Samaria district aren’t partners [in the sovereignty plan] – not for the drawing up of the [sovereignty] map, and not for the putting together of the overall framework.”

“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: there is zero chance Netanyahu will apply sovereignty over the Jordan Valley. This whole thing is a public relations project and electoral effort.”

“Netanyahu has tricked everyone. He has no intention of applying sovereignty: not over Maale Adumim and not even in the Jordan Valley. He always manages to trick everyone, but it was clear to me that he is lying, just as he lied about Khan al-Akhmar.”

The Yisrael Beytenu chief went on to excoriate the government’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic as well.

“Netanyahu isn’t dealing with either the coronavirus or sovereignty – he is only dealing with his push [to receive] tax refunds and with the attorney general.”

Liberman also mocked Netanyahu’s coalition partners, Alternate Prime Minister and Defense Minister Benny Gantz and Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi, both of the Blue and White party.

Gantz “is a ‘reserve’ prime minister. I expect nothing from him or from Ashkenazi.”
